HaMafteach — Privacy Policy

This privacy policy describes how the HaMafteach mobile app ("the App") handles user information.

Summary

HaMafteach does not collect, store, or transmit personal information. It is a fully offline-first reference app. The few network requests it makes are described below.

What stays on your device

• Favorites — entries you star are stored on your phone in the app's local storage. They never leave the device.
• Search history — your recent searches are stored on your phone, capped at 50 entries per language. They never leave the device.
• Settings — appearance preferences (theme, text size) are stored on your phone.
• Acceptance of terms — a single flag indicating you've accepted the copyright and permissions notice.

You can clear any of this from inside the app at any time (Favorites tab, Recent searches "Clear" link, Settings).

What the App sends over the network

1. Daf page images — when you tap a citation, the corresponding Vilna Shas page image is fetched from images.e-daf.com, a third-party service operated by E-Daf.com. Your IP address is visible to E-Daf.com as part of any normal HTTP request, but no personal information is sent. E-Daf.com's privacy practices are governed by their own policies.
2. License + key check (if applicable) — when the App is paired with our license server (hamafteach.vercel.app), it sends a randomly-generated device identifier and platform name (iOS/Android) to verify entitlement. This identifier is not tied to your name, email, Apple ID, Google account, or any other personal information. It is used solely to enforce content licensing.

That's everything.

What the App does NOT do

• No analytics
• No advertising
• No tracking pixels, no fingerprinting
• No third-party SDKs that collect personal information
• No account creation, no email collection, no login
• No location data
• No microphone, camera, contacts, or calendar access
• No data sold or shared with third parties

Children

The App is suitable for all ages. It does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy ever changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change, and a notice will appear on the App's Info screen for one full version cycle.
